Issue
When opening an Excel workbook in FYI, users may be unable to edit the workbook.
- The following error message may display before the workbook has fully opened:
"We found a problem with some content in '.xlsx'. Do you want us to try to recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes." - When the user clicks Yes, the following notification displays:
- After clicking Close, the following error displays at the top of the sheet, below the Excel ribbon:
"AUTOSAVE TURNED OFF This workbook contains features that prevent it from using AutoSave. Please save your workbook manually."
Cause
The Excel workbook contains content, formatting, or an enabled feature that prevents AutoSave from working correctly.
This may occur if Excel needs to repair the workbook before it can be opened and edited.
Solution
- In FYI, export the document and save the workbook to your computer.
- Open the downloaded copy in Excel.
- If Excel prompts you to repair the workbook, click Yes to recover the file.
- Save the recovered workbook as a new file.
- If the issue continues, copy the sheets or content into a brand-new workbook, then save the new workbook.
- Ensure the workbook is saved in the correct format. Use .xlsx where possible. If macros are required, save the workbook as .xlsm.
- In FYI, open the Document Drawer and upload the repaired file as a new version.
