A Web Link allows you to quickly and easily add the URL for a link created in another application, for example, if there is a report that is held for the client in a different program, such as your practice management software.
Web Links can also be created through Automation steps, for example, when importing a report from Xero Ledger.
Creating a Web Link
- From FYI, click the + button in the menu bar and select Web Link from the list of document types.
Alternatively, from the workspace, press the shortcut key L to create a new Web Link.
- The Create Web Link drawer displays.
The fields that initially display depend on whether filing defaults have been set in your settings or in the Practice Settings. - Enter your Web Link details. When you select the Client, these may change to the filing defaults set for the client.
- Click Create.
You can use Web Link if you need to copy an email or document and file it in FYI to multiple clients, but only want a single version of the file. To do this, copy the email or document as a Doc Link and then adding this Doc Link as the URL.

In a list, click the Open icon next to the Web Link name and the linked document displays.
