Issue

In Microsoft Outlook, the FYI icon opens the FYI Drawer, where users can view and manage filing details for emails. You may experience one of the following:

  • The FYI icon does not display in Outlook.
  • The FYI icon displays but is greyed out.

Cause

You have not selected an email

The FYI icon is only available when an email is selected.

Solution

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Select an email from your Inbox.
  3. Check whether the FYI icon displays in the Ribbon bar, at the top of the email near the Reply options, under the More Actions menu (three dots), or within the Apps menu.

Refer to Displaying the Drawer in FYI, Outlook and Office for examples of where the icon may be located.

You do not have access to the FYI Add-in

If the FYI icon does not display in both Outlook desktop and Outlook online, you may not have access to the FYI Add-in through Microsoft 365.

Solution

  1. Log in to Outlook online.
  2. Select an email.
  3. Open the More Actions menu (three dots) and check whether the FYI icon is available.
  4. If the icon is not available, contact your Microsoft 365 Administrator to confirm the FYI Add-in has been enabled for your account.
  5. If the Add-in has been enabled for your account and the icon still does not display, contact FYI Support.
The Categories column is not enabled

The FYI Add-in relies on the Categories column being enabled in Outlook.

Solution

  1. In Outlook, open the View menu.
  2. Click Add Columns.
  3. Ensure Categories is included in the list of displayed columns on the Right-hand side.
  4. If it is not listed, add Categories and apply the changes.
