"Please sign in to view this file" repeatedly appears when attempting to preview documents


When previewing Office documents, such as Excel and Word, the Preview pane in FYI does not show the document and displays the following Microsoft365 message even after signing in: 

"Please sign in to view this file"


This may be caused by one of the following reasons:

  • Third-party cookies that have been blocked in the browser. This will prevent OneDrive from displaying the document preview in FYI.
  • OneDrive is preventing the login


You will need to refer to your IT team to investigate further. 

Please note:

  • Third-party cookies should be allowed in the browser for FYI and will allow the OneDrive preview to function correctly. Please discuss this with your IT team prior to making any changes to your environment. 
  • FYI displays an iFrame of OneDrive within the preview pane, used to preview the document. Where OneDrive is preventing the login, this will need to be investigated directly with Microsoft.
