The "Filed in FYI" category in Outlook is automatically applied to emails when using FYI. It helps identify which emails have been auto-filed or manually filed via FYI. This category is applied via Microsoft's API and cannot be removed while your practice is subscribed to FYI.
- If your practice is continuing to use FYI, this category is required. It will be automatically re-added if removed.
- If your practice has ended its FYI subscription, and you wish to clean up the category from Outlook, follow the steps below.
Remove the "Filed in FYI" Category from Outlook
Step 1: Remove the category from individual emails
- In Outlook, open your Inbox.
- Sort your emails by Categories. At the top of your email list, select the sort dropdown (e.g. "By Date") and change it to Categories.
- Select all emails with the category "Filed in FYI" (hold Ctrl and click to select multiple emails).
- Right-click on the selected emails, hover over Categorize, and click Filed in FYI to remove it.
- Repeat this process for your Sent Items folder.
Step 2: Delete the category from Outlook
Note: This step is only effective after your FYI subscription has ended. Otherwise, the category will be re-added when a user signs into FYI.
- In Outlook, go to the Home tab.
- Click Categorize in the Tags group, then select All Categories.
- Select the Filed in FYI category.
- Click Delete.
