The Schedule trigger is available when creating Custom Processes, allowing practices to define a regular frequency to automatically run the process.
Note: The Schedule controls when the Custom Process starts automatically, and does not control when individual steps within the process are completed.
Trigger - Schedule
Selecting the Schedule trigger allows automations to run automatically when the defined period of time has elapsed, instead of needing to run the automation manually or when a particular event has occurred.
Once Schedule is selected, users must edit the trigger to define a schedule.
The Select Date Range window will be displayed, where users can set the frequency.
Schedule Trigger Details
The Schedule can be configured to define the specific time period when the automation is run.
Click Clear to remove the values configured for all fields.
| Action | Details | Example |
| Start and End Dates |
Used to configure when the Automation Process will start running. Click the field to display a calendar, or begin typing to manually enter the date. A Start date must be provided and determines the first date the process will run. The End date field can remain blank to run the process indefinitely. |
01/07/2026 - (blank) 01/07/2026 - 31/07/2026 |
| Run based on a defined time period |
Used to configure which days and months the process will run. The fields are combined to create the schedule. Use a defined time period when the automation needs to run on a specific day, week, or month. For example, users may want the process to run on the first weekday of each month, the last day of each month, or the last Friday of each month. |
On the 1st Weekday of each Month On the Last Day of each Month On the Last Friday of each Month |
| Run based on a defined number of intervals |
Used to define the interval for running the process. Users can manually enter a number, which will be combined with the interval to create the schedule. Use a defined number of intervals when the automation needs to run repeatedly after a set amount of time has passed. For example, users may want the process to run every hour, every three months, or every year. |
Every 1 Hours Every 3 Months Every 1 Years |
Working with the Schedule Trigger
Delay Step
The Schedule trigger controls when the Custom Process starts. A Delay step can then be used to pause the process between actions, or to create a repeating cycle with gaps between each run. For example, a Custom Process could be scheduled to start automatically and use a Delay step to pause for one month before continuing to the next step.
