As we approach the halfway mark of the calendar year, May has been a milestone month for the FYI team. We’ve rolled out exciting new integrations and features, along with a host of enhancements designed to boost visibility, streamline workflows, and give users even greater control across the platform.
For our Australia and New Zealand practices, we introduced two new integrations that streamline practice management and document workflows:
- Firstly, we introduced Seamlss as a new integration partner. Practices integrated with Seamless can make their workflow even easier by automatically filing documents generated from client engagements directly into FYI. Documents are filed to your selected default cabinet and categories, significantly reducing manual handling and ensuring your document management process is efficient and reliable.
-
Dashboard Insights is now available to our practices on the Elite plan. This new integration offers visually rich dashboards and custom reports built from FYI practice data. Partners and managers can now make more informed, proactive decisions with real-time insights into their practice.
We’ve updated the Client Summary to include a new Addressee field, which pulls directly from the client’s Primary Contact. This makes it easier to verify exactly who will be addressed in your client communications, saving you the step of checking contact details elsewhere. An icon will appear next to the Addressee field to indicate its source and, when clicked, takes you straight to the Primary Contact information in the Contacts tab. If no Primary Contact has been set, the field will appear blank. For practices using Xero Practice Manager, this field syncs with the Primary Contact in XPM and must be updated in XPM. If your practice uses FYI as the primary source of client data, users with permission can set or override the Addressee directly within FYI, ensuring consistency across all client-facing documents. For more information, refer to Client Summary
In Automation Process History, we’ve made it quicker to spot potential issues by adding a Warning icon next to any automation that contains a warning message. This helps you identify and troubleshoot problems in your workflows without needing to check each step manually. You can also use the new Warning button in the toolbar to instantly filter the list to only show affected automations. These updates are available in the global Automation History, within individual automation histories, and in the Client, Job, and Employee workspaces (for Elite practices). Refer to Automation History.
For UK practices integrated with IRIS, we’ve enhanced how custom fields are managed during synchronisation. If a custom field is deleted in FYI but still exists in IRIS, it will now be automatically recreated in FYI during the next sync. This ensures your data remains aligned across systems. To help identify when this occurs, a message will appear in the Practice Activity section, with a link to troubleshooting article, so you can address the issue efficiently. Refer to Error FYI-2275 "Archive the Custom Field in IRIS before deleting the matching Custom Field in FYI."
For all users, when checking your Status in My Settings, we’ve replaced green exclamation marks with green checkmarks to clearly show which items have been set up correctly, helping you quickly identify outstanding configurations. Refer to Individual Settings and Status.
For Elite practices, managing time and disbursement entries just became more flexible, along with other enhancements:
- If submitted time entries are deleted from the Time list, they’re no longer permanently removed from the platform - they can be viewed and restored via the Unhide Deleted Timesheets and Restore options. This makes it easier to recover data that may have been removed in error, while still excluding those values from WIP calculations to maintain financial accuracy. To prevent accidental deletions, we’ve removed the Delete option from the Bulk Update tool, so users are now prompted to confirm before any permanent changes are made. It's important to note that draft, in-progress, and interim entries are still permanently deleted. Refer to Deleting Time and Disbursement Entries and Restoring Deleted Time and Disbursement Entries.
- We’ve also improved the handling of the Import Unbilled WIP report. If a time entry in your csv import file matches one that has already been invoiced, FYI will now create a new submitted time entry instead. This allows you to maintain accurate and up-to-date records without affecting already billed items, making WIP reconciliation more straightforward. Refer to Import Unbilled WIP Report.
- We’ve also enhanced the Invoice Drawer to include more detailed activity logs. When a change is made to an invoice, the activity section now shows exactly what was updated, who made the change, and when the change was made, giving your team better visibility and accountability. Refer to Opening and Editing Invoices.
