Issue

You can send emails directly from Outlook, but when sending an email from within FYI the following error is displayed:

  • "Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: email address. Your message wasn't delivered because the recipient's email provider rejected it."

Cause

This issue occurs when the recipient’s mail server or Microsoft 365 environment blocks or rejects messages sent from FYI. The error may be related to spam protection, security filters, or IP restrictions.

Note: This is typically an IT or Microsoft configuration issue and not related to FYI.

Solution

Before contacting your IT provider, complete the following checks to help identify the cause of the issue:

  1. Confirm the recipient email address is correct and does not contain any errors.
  2. Try sending the email to a different external recipient to determine if the issue is specific to one address.
  3. Check whether the issue occurs for all recipients or only certain domains.

If the issue persists, your practice’s IT provider will need to investigate the Microsoft 365 and email security configuration.

Your IT provider should review Microsoft 365 spam filtering and IP filtering settings and confirm that emails sent from FYI are not being blocked.

Once the issue has been resolved, send the email again from FYI to confirm successful delivery.
