Error "We found a problem with some content in (report)" opening a Report in Microsoft Excel

Issue

After creating a report in FYI, attempting to open the report displays the following Microsoft Excel error:

  • We found a problem with some content in (Report Name). Do you want us to try and recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of this workbook, click yes.

After clicking yes to the message, another error is displayed:

  • Repairs to (Report Name) - Removed Feature: Hyperlinks from (XML link) part.

Cause

When FYI generates reports, links are inserted into the file automatically, such as links to the job in FYI.

Microsoft Excel has a limit of 65,530 hyperlinks within a single file. If the report has been run for a large amount of data, this limit may be exceeded. When repairing the Report, Excel removes the hyperlinks from the file to allow the report to open.

Solution

Our engineering team are working on a solution, however in the meantime click Yes to the prompts to allow Excel to remove the hyperlinks and open the report.
