The FYI Add-ins enable key FYI features directly within Microsoft 365, including automatically filing emails, accessing documents, and working with the FYI Drawer from Outlook and Office applications.
This article summarises the options available for installing the FYI Add-ins for Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Detailed installation steps are provided in the linked feature guides.
Before You Begin
Before installing the FYI Add-ins, review the following:
- The Microsoft 365 account used to install the FYI Add-ins must have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard licence, or higher.
- To make the FYI Add-ins available to all users, the installation should be completed by the practice’s Microsoft 365 administrator.
- Individual users can install the FYI Add-ins themselves when trialling FYI before a full practice rollout.
- After the FYI Add-ins are installed, users should optimise their computer for FYI by configuring Outlook, Office, and their browser.
Installing the FYI Add-ins
There are two ways to install the FYI Add-ins.
To make the FYI Add-ins available to all users, practices should install the Add-ins using the practice’s Microsoft 365 administrator account. This is the recommended option for a full practice rollout.
Installing the Add-ins individually is recommended only when trialling FYI before the full practice deployment.
The FYI Add-ins can be installed using the practice’s Microsoft 365 administrator account.
Note: This is a mandatory step that must be completed before practice users begin using FYI.
The Microsoft 365 administrator will install both the FYI Add-in for Outlook and the FYI Add-in for Office from Microsoft AppSource, then deploy the Add-ins to the relevant users in the practice.
Refer to Adding the FYI Add-ins to Your Practice Microsoft 365 Account.
The FYI Add-ins can be installed by individual users from within Office and Outlook. This option can be helpful where a single user wants to trial FYI before onboarding the entire practice.
Refer to Adding FYI Add-ins as a User from within Office and Outlook.
Accessing the FYI Add-in
After the FYI Add-ins are installed, users can access the FYI Drawer from both Office and Outlook.
Note: Users must be logged into Office and Outlook using the same account as their FYI user account to file emails.
The location of the FYI icon will depend on the version of Office installed on the user's computer.
For example, the icon could be located in any of the following places:
- In the Ribbon bar
- At the top of the email, near the Reply, Reply All, or Forward buttons
- Under the More Actions menu, accessed by clicking the three dots (...)
- In the Apps menu
For more information on accessing the FYI add-in, refer to Displaying the Drawer in FYI, Outlook and Office.
If the FYI icon does not display or is greyed out, refer to Why does the FYI Drawer icon not appear in Outlook or is greyed out?
Optimising Your Computer for FYI
After installing the FYI Add-ins, all users must complete the following steps to optimise their computer for FYI.
- Configure the Outlook settings for FYI.
- Configure OneDrive for use with FYI.
- Prepare the browser for FYI.
