Where do Contact Name, Salutation, and Addressee values come from?

Contact Name, Salutation and Addressee values can be inserted into FYI emails and documents using Merge Fields in Word templates and email templates.

These Merge Field values come from the client's details in FYI. On the Client - Summary tab, the Contact, Mobile, Salutation, and Addressee fields use details from the client's Primary Contact.

  • Contact and Addressee always use the Primary Contact details.
  • When FYI as Primary for Client Maintenance is enabled, Mobile and Salutation can be maintained directly for the client and override the corresponding Primary Contact details.
  • If FYI as Primary for Client Maintenance isn't enabled, Mobile and Salutation use the Primary Contact details.

If a Primary Contact isn't selected, or the details haven't been maintained on the Client - Summary tab, these fields will be blank.

The selected Primary Contact is displayed on the Client - Contacts tab.

For practices where FYI as Primary for Client Maintenance is enabled, users can create and manage Primary Contacts from within FYI.  For all other practices, Primary Contacts are selected from the integrated practice management platform, for example, Xero Practice Manager, APS, etc. Refer to Nominating the Primary Contact.
