When a user begins editing a document, the document is marked as "Locked" to prevent other users from editing the file. An icon is displayed in the Documents List next to the document name, to indicate which documents are currently locked. The Edit Status can also be filtered to view documents currently being edited.

All users, including FYI Admins, can check back in a locked document to make the document available for editing by another user. This is useful where a user may not have clicked the Finished Editing button, and for example, is now out of the office or unavailable.

To force stop editing and check another file back in:

  1. Open a Documents list where the document is displayed.

  2. The Editing icon will be displayed on the right.

  3. Click the Editing icon on the right to display the Stop Editing pop-up.

  4. Click Stop editing. The changes made by the previous user will be synced and saved back to FYI, and the document will become available for editing.

Refer to Check in of Locked Documents.
