Issue
You cannot see the Pin icon in the FYI Drawer in Outlook, or clicking the icon does not keep the Drawer open.
Cause
The ability to pin the FYI Drawer is controlled by Microsoft.
The feature is only available in supported versions of Microsoft 365 and may not function in restricted environments such as Citrix.
Pinnable task panes are only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers using supported versions of Outlook on Windows or Mac.
If you are using an older version of Outlook, the Pin icon will not display.
Solution
- Open Outlook.
- Click File > Office Account.
- Check the version and build number in the About Outlook section.
- If required, update Microsoft 365 to the latest available version.
Refer to your IT administrator to update Microsoft 365 to a supported version.
If you are working in a Citrix or other virtualised environment, Microsoft may restrict the ability to pin add-ins.
In this case, the Pin icon may not display, or it may not remain selected.
Contact your practice IT administrator to confirm whether pinned task panes are supported in your environment.
