Can I file an email and save the attachments within the email, rather than filing each attachment as a separate item?

When an incoming email is received and contains attachments, both the email and attachments are saved as separate documents. This provides flexibility when filing and ensures attachments retain their own metadata.

Although they are separate documents, the attachments are easily accessible from the Attachments section of the Email drawer. Attachments will remain linked to the email, even when filed separately from the email.

Using AutoFile, emails and attachments can be filed automatically. How the attachments are filed depends on your AutoFile settings. Refer to Introduction to Email AutoFile.

When enabling the practice setting "AutoFile Else In Tray - Emails only (In Tray for attachments)", all attachments will sit as drafts in the user's In Tray. Users can then choose to file or delete the attachments from their In Tray.

For information on how to file email attachments, refer to Filing Email Attachments in FYI.
