PDF documents can be opened from FYI using either OneDrive or FYI Desktop. PDFs should only be opened using these methods when practices use a third-party application for editing PDFs.
To edit a PDF directly in FYI, refer to Editing a PDF.
Opening a PDF in a third-party app
Opening a PDF using OneDrive
- Select a PDF from a Documents list.
- Click the Edit drop-down, then select Edit in OneDrive. The PDF will be available in the FYI - My Edits folder in your OneDrive.
- From the Opening Document for Edit pop-up, click Open Online. The PDF will be opened in the same browser as FYI. Alternatively, open the PDF from your FYI - My Edits folder in Windows Explorer, then using your preferred third-party PDF editing application, make any changes.
- When you save the PDF this will overwrite the PDF in your FYI - My Edits folder.
- In FYI, select the PDF from a list and click I am Finished Editing in the FYI drawer so it is available to other users for editing.
If the PDF has previously been sent to a client, either through DocuSign, Adobe Sign, Annature or FuseSign, and the client has signed it electronically, the signed version of the PDF will have a workflow status of "Client Signed" and cannot be edited. Therefore, the Edit function will not appear when selecting a document with a workflow status of "Client Signed".
Opening a PDF using FYI Desktop
- Select a PDF from a Documents list.
- Click the Edit drop-down, then select Edit in FYI Desktop.
- The PDF will be opened directly in your Editing tool.
- In FYI, select the PDF from a list and click I am Finished Editing in the FYI drawer so it is available to other users for editing.
Open a PDF Using Export
You can also Export a PDF, then open it and edit or print the PDF. Refer to Exporting Documents. Refer also to Editing documents in FYI.
