Error "Custom Field failed to export to XPM" in Practice Activity when synchronising with Xero Practice Manager

Issue

When synchronising Custom Fields between FYI and Xero Practice Manager, the sync was not completed and the following error was displayed in Practice Activity:

  • Error Custom Field failed to export to XPM. Please check definition in XPM.

Cause

The Custom Field "Type" is different between FYI and Xero Practice Manager. For example, in FYI the Custom Field might be configured as a "Date" type, while in XPM it may be set to "Text".

Solution

You will need to delete the Custom Field from one of the platforms, and synchronise the data to recreate the Custom Field using the correct definition type. Refer to Managing Custom Fields.
