Email AutoFile Exclusion CSV Import

For practices setting Exclude External Emails as "Off" in their Email AutoFile Settings, we recommend that you use the Import CSV function to import email addresses and domains that should be excluded in the auto-filing logic. This allows you to add the email addresses and domains in bulk from a .csv file. Refer to Email AutoFile Settings, Exclusions and Practice Filing Defaults.

These settings can only be managed by an FYI Admin, or a user in a User Group that has Permissions enabled for Automations.

Displaying the AutoFile Exclusions

  1. From FYI, click the Automation menu option.
  2. Go to the Apps tab.
  3. In Email AutoFile, click the cog icon to edit this.
  4. Go to the Exclusion tab.

Preparing the .csv File

First, prepare a .csv file with the email addresses and domains you want to import.

Note: When adding a domain, in order to exclude an entire domain. this needs to be added in the .csv file as "domain.com" not as "@domain.com".
When adding an email address for an individual account, this needs to be added as the full email address.
If the domain or email address is not entered correctly, the following message is displayed when you import the .csv file:
"Error: Please enter a valid email or domain".

At the bottom on this article is a .csv file that you can use to start your list of exclusions.

An FYI Admin can also use the Draft Filed view of the Documents list to check any email addresses or domains of emails that are being imported by the Email AutoFile, but users have not filed from their In Tray. Refer to FYI Admin view of all Users' In Trays.

Ensure you save the file as .csv (comma-separated values).

Importing the .csv File with the Exclusions

  1. Login as an FYI Admin, or a user in a User Group that has Permissions enabled for Automations.
  2. From FYI, click the Automation menu option and go to the Apps tab.
  3. In Email AutoFile, click the cog icon to edit this.
  4. Display the Exclusion tab.
  5. Click Import CSV.
  6. Select the .csv file that holds the email addresses and domains you want to import.

A message will be displayed as the email addresses and domains are imported, with the results listed on the Exclusion tab.

Any email addresses and domains that are already in the Exclusions are ignored.
