The following fields on the Client - Summary tab will default to the Primary Contact details:
- Contact
- Mobile
- Salutation
- Addressee
If a Primary Contact is not selected, these fields will be blank.
For practices where FYI as Primary for Client Maintenance is enabled, the Mobile and Salutation can be maintained directly for the client on the Client - Summary tab, and will override the default Primary Contact details. Refer to Updating Salutation using FYI as Primary below.
The Contact Name and Salutation fields are inserted into FYI emails and documents via Templates using Merge Fields. Refer to Including Merge Fields in Word Templates and Stationery and Including Merge Fields in Email Templates and Signatures.
Viewing the selected Primary Contact
The selected Primary Contact will be displayed on the Client - Contacts tab. Refer to Client Contacts.
Selecting a Primary Contact
Depending on your chosen Practice Management source, the Primary Contact is managed in:
- Your integrated Practice Management solution e.g. Xero Practice Manager, MYOB etc. This includes all Practice Sync integrations.
- Within FYI directly, available for practices where FYI as Primary has been enabled in the Practice Settings.

Updating Salutation using FYI as Primary
When FYI as Primary for Client Maintenance is enabled, the Mobile and Salutation fields will be first retrieved from the client level. If the information has not been entered for the client, FYI will default to the Primary Contact's details, or remain blank if a Primary Contact is not selected.
