When FYI has been enabled as your Primary Source for Client Maintenance, clients can be created and updated directly in FYI.
FYI as Primary Source for Client Data is available to practices:
- Upgrading to the Elite plan. Note, FYI as Primary for Client Maintenance will be automatically enabled when selecting FYI as the Practice Management source.
Note: The FYI as Primary for Client Maintenance setting is not available for practices integrated with MYOB Practice Management (formerly GreatSoft).
- For practices on the FYI Pro Plan, integrated with Xero Practice Manager (XPM), this feature is currently available as a Beta. Learn more about beta registrations.
For practices integrated with Xero Practice Manager, the synchronisation frequency will be adjusted. Refer to Xero Practice Manager Rate Limits and Synchronising Clients, Staff, Jobs, Time, Tax Returns with Xero Practice Manager.
Practice Settings can only be managed by an FYI Admin.
Note: Once FYI has been enabled as the Primary for Client Maintenance, this setting cannot be disabled. This will ensure data integrity, with one source location for your data.
FYI as Primary Settings
For detailed information on the data synchronisation, refer to Synchronising Clients, Staff, Jobs, Time, Tax Returns with Xero Practice Manager.
After FYI as Primary for Client Maintenance has been enabled:
- The frequency of client synchronisations with Xero Practice Manager will be reduced.
- The Client Manual Sync function is only available for FYI Admins, and users in a User Group with access to Automations. Refer to Running a Manual Sync with Xero Practice Manager. A manual sync cannot be performed from the Client List.
- Changes made to clients in FYI will not be updated back to the original state in Xero Practice Manager (XPM) if a manual Sync is requested before the change in FYI has been updated to XPM.
- When editing a client, the Salutation, Addressee and Mobile fields will become available for editing in FYI. These fields will then be maintained in FYI only, and will not synchronise to Xero Practice Manager. The Contact Salutation, Addressee, and Mobile fields will continue to synchronise with XPM.
- "User" type Custom Fields for Clients and Jobs will be displayed in a new "Assigned Users" section of the Client Summary and Job Summary tabs. To edit the Custom Fields, users will need to be assigned to a User Group with the Edit Clients and Edit Jobs permissions.
Please note, these fields will no longer display in the Custom Fields tabs for the Client and Job Workspace.
Consider your Xero Practice Manager integrations with other app providers before enabling this option.
